Our third day on the island began with breakfast on the balcony - brioche with our favourite new spread.
We also saw several birds which, although their name "lovebirds" might conjure kindly thoughts, brings to mind for me the opening sequences of the Hitchcock film The Birds.
For the day's activity we decided to visit the Jardin Botanique in Deshaies. The entry fee was reasonable and, even though the place was very busy, we managed to speand a good few hours wandering around photographing plants and flowers.

The last four are all of the Antillean Crested Hummingbird - a tiny bird, very fast so I'm very pleased with these.
But let's not forget this little fella and his mates. Not natives of Guadaloupe but there in an enclosure in the gardens - the Rainbow Lorikeet. I last came across one of these on my outing to a naturist beach in Sydney, but more of that when I eventually get around to writing up that trip.
Then back to the apartment for some well earned chilling, a swim on the local beach and a bottle of nice french wine from the Minervois region to finish off the day.
